Borough Market: Find and Feast
Fri 27 May, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm BSTFree
Join Ceri Buckmaster on a wild food walk around Southwark and discover how to identify seasonal plants and flowers in some unexpected locations, then finish the morning at the demonstration kitchen in Borough Market and learn how to cook delicious recipes using them with Celia Brooks.
Ceri has been leading walks in London’s green spaces since 2008, shining a spotlight on wild food as the ‘new street food’, inspired by the wild plants that grow in urban areas, as well as by the people and diverse food traditions present in the city. Celia, a regular Borough Market chef and blogger, is the author of eight fundamentally vegetarian cookery books and a very experienced allotmenteer, who grows for the table and for pleasure.
Share the spares: calling all local gardeners, allotment holders and community plant enthusiasts! Bring along a plant or seedlings to swap with varieties of herbs and vegetables specially cultivated by Borough Market gardener Veronica Perez Diaz, ready to transplant into your plot at home.
A limited number of free tickets are available for the Walk (11am -12.30pm), so booking is essential, while everyone is welcome to join the free cookery demonstration and plant swap which will take place between 12.30-2pm in the Market Hall at Borough Market. The cookery demonstration will be translated by a BSL interpeter.

- Borough Market is easily accessed by public transport. We are seconds walk from a major train station, on countless bus routes and even provide bike racks for keen cyclists. The Market is located next to London Bridge station which is serviced by the Jubilee and Northern Lines on the underground and by overground trains from all over London and the south of England. To find us, simply exit the station following the exit signs for Borough High Street. If you’re travelling by bus, stops at London Bridge, Borough High Street or Southwark Street will leave you right by the Market. We provide bike racks so you can cycle to and from the Market. You’ll find the racks in Jubilee Place. If you’re using a Barclays cycle hire bike, the nearest docking stations are located on Southwark Street and Park Street. We are also easily reached by foot or along the Thames Path on the Southbank or over London Bridge from the City. Jubilee Place contains limited public car parking spaces and permits can be obtained from the car park attendant.
