Cirencester’s Daisy-chain trail
Sat 20 May, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm BST
An event every day that begins at 11:00 am, repeating until Sun 4 June, 2017
Join Cirencester’s Daisy-chain trail, created to guide visitors through a fantastic range of activities when the Chelsea Fringe comes to Cirencester, known locally as the capital of the Cotswolds.
The trail, designed by community radio station Corinium Radio, celebrates all the local community gardens tended by green-fingered volunteers around the traditional tourist market town, highlighting a range of events being planned during the Fringe celebrations from the 20th of May to the 4th June.
Start your trail on Saturday 20th May at 11am at the alternative pop-up garden in the town’s bandstand, which can be found on the site of Cirencester’s Augustinian Abbey founded in 1117. Decorated by children and community groups who have been busy knitting, drawing, cutting and sticking a colourful assortment of wonderful flowers, it is a great place to launch the Fringe with a Floral Buskers’ trail to follow, adding to the entertainment.
During the Fringe celebrations there will also be opportunities to “Meet the Creatives” who are often the unsung heroes who help make Cirencester so attractive for visitors, both local and from further afield.
And, as a finale to the Daisy-chain trail on Sunday June 4th, the radio station is hosting a Flower Tea Party at the town’s Fleece Hotel where guests, wearing flowers in whatever way takes their fancy, can enjoy tea, cake and entertainment from the Cotswolds’ own Singing Florist, freshly picked for the event following her recent television success.
The Daisy-chain trail and all connected events are free to attend, subject to availability, thanks to the kind efforts of local residents who are excited to make this first Chelsea Fringe festival in the Cotswolds a richly deserved success.
