Dalston Flower Show for Children
Sat 27 May, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm BST
Events on these days: Saturday 27 May, Wednesday 31 May, Thursday 1 June & Friday 2 June.
Saturday 27 May, 1-5pm
Children can come along to the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, 1-5pm on Saturday 27 May, for the Dalston Flower Show for Children, to make pizzas in the wood-fired oven, to join artist Emamoke Ukeleghe printing their own bags, or to sow flowers for bees. It’s all free, but as always, donations are welcome.
‘Dalston Flower Show for Children’ activities continue during half-term Wednesday 31 May – Friday 2 June, 2-5pm
Wednesday 31 May, 2, 3 & 4pm – Sounds of Nature drawing
Birds singing, bees buzzing, animals calling, wind rushing though the trees, rain falling – some of the sounds you can hear in green spaces in the city. Walk around the Curve Garden with artist Sandra Keating, then close your eyes and listen closely to all of these sounds… you’ll be making many many ‘sound drawings’ which will be layered up into ‘soundscape artworks’ for you to take home to dream with.
Thursday 1 June, 2, 3 & 4pm – Sunflower Artists
Yellow, sunflowers, seeds and using your hands not paintbrushes to make art are the focus for this workshop led by Sandra Keating. Children will hear about ‘Sunflower Artists’ Vincent Van Gogh and Ai Weiwei before working with seeds and tissue paper to make their own sunflowers and work together to make a big sunflower piece. Then help us plant sunflowers to fill the Garden with yellow this Summer.
Friday 2 June, 2-5pm (last session 4pm) – Pizza Making
No half-term would be complete without joining Chef David’s team at Latto’s Pizza for an afternoon of making fresh pizza in the wood-fired oven.
