Flower Nation: Howard Sooley ‘In Conversation’ with Tim Richardson
Fri 10 June, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm BSTFree
In association with the exhibition currently on display in the Devers Room at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden, Flower Nation: Invaders, Migrants and Weeds in the British Garden, photographer Howard Sooley will be ‘in conversation’ with garden writer and Chelsea Fringe director Tim Richardson.
Howard will explain the impulses behind the exhibition and the process of putting it together, with reference to the underlying metaphor of ‘plants as immigrants’. How far can we push this analogy? And can it be extended across Europe? Tim will also be talking to Howard about his work more generally, including his project with Derek Jarman which resulted in the iconic book about the film-maker’s garden at Dungeness in Kent. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to put questions to Howard.
The exhibition has been mounted by the Garden Museum and the European Commission.
The event is free but booking is essential as places are limited. Refreshments will be served.
