A honeycomb meadow of wildflowers, designed by River of Flowers to highlight the importance of creating bee and pollinator friendly habitats in our urban environment, will be appearing in Millennium Square for the Chelsea Fringe in Bristol. This installation of interlinking, moveable hexagonal planters is a joint collaboration with partners BeeBristol, which are project managing the event and the follow-on distribution of the wildflower hexagons in the HoneyComb Meadow to community projects around the city.
The squares, gardens, parks, pavements and rooftops of any city can provide a source of essential nectar and pollen for urban pollinators including bees and butterflies. River of Flowers, a nonprofit social enterprise works in partnership to link these spaces with ‘rivers’ of wildflowers to create safe routes through cities for pollinators. BeeBristol encourages every citizen of Bristol to embrace nature by helping pollinators through art, education and conservation.
