King’s Road, Chelsea is a mile long stretch of shops, cafés and restaurants in one of Europe’s most densely populated areas.
In the 18th century King’s Road was home to an abundance of nurseries from Sloane Square to World’s End. We are bringing together floral designs from hanging flower baskets to ground displays through a collaboration between those who live, learn and work on the King’s Road.
Take a stroll along this historic stretch and see how flowers are used to bring the road to life. We consider the significance of the natural world in today’s urban landscape and wonder how the ‘petal leaf and stem’ can bring peace in today’s fast changing world.
Are flowers the ultimate in human decadence or an essential in our quest to return to the garden of innocence? Wild or fake? Styled or simple? Can our desires be tamed by nature’s riot of colour and beauty?
