Matisse-Inspired Bottle Garden installation
Sun 19 May @ 7:15 am - 8:30 pm BST
An event every day that begins at 7:15 am, repeating until Sun 26 May, 2019
Children of all ages from The Horniman Primary school will be planting bee friendly plants, grown from seeds by them, to create a Matisse-inspired recycled bottle garden. A really magical and inspiring project which we cannot wait to share with you all.
In collaboration with the Horniman Museum and Gardens, these Matisse-inspired recycled bottles will be installed in the Horniman Museum Grounds for all to enjoy during the 9 days of Chelsea Fringe, with all seeds and compost kindly donated by the Horniman Museum and Gardens.
We have chosen Matisse for his bold colour and abstract cut outs, his childlike appeal, focusing on his colourful fern and floral shapes. So come and join us for our launch on Sat May 18th to decorate your own Matisse-inspired recycled bottle and then use it for growing your bee friendly seeds. There will be two hour-long sessions at 11.00am and 1.00pm but please check online at chiaramello floral design and Horniman for confirmation and updates.
The amazing Gardens team at the Horniman have donated all seeds and compost, and are working very hard in the background nurturing and looking after our plants. The children will return to see their seedlings in April and we will plant them up on 17th May, open for the public on 18th May.
Come and support us, take a wander around the fabulous gardens, say hello to the Horniman Walrus whilst you’re there and grab yourself some nourishment from the Farmers Market and wonderful cafe!
