Old Times Cook-off

Within a project on historical Slovene IMP the Jožef Stefan Institute has developed a digital library of old Slovene books that is full of secrets which shouldn’t be forgotten, including gastronomic ones that were published in the first Slovene Cookbook written by Valentin Vodnik in 1799:
– What does”yellow soup” taste like?
– Would you dare to taste “Fasting soup of fish intestines”?
– Could following Vodnik’s then recipes get you arrested today?
How to take part
Browse through 300 recipes in the Vodnik Cookbook, pick your favourite, prepare it and post a picture of it on your Twitter or Instagram profile, or the Zelemenava Facebook page. Don’t forget to include the name of the dish and the cook-off hashtag #NajVodnik. The cook-off will take place from 16 May to 3 June, and then on 4 and 5 June everyone can vote for their favourite dish. We will choose a winner in three categories:
– most elaborate recipe
– most mouth-watering recipe
– recipe with the highest gross factor
Each winner will receive a unique Valentin Vodnik cook-off T-shirt.
