Plants & People: Wild Food
Saturday 21 May | 1.30pm – 3.30pm
As part of this years Chelsea Fringe, we are inviting people to explore our new ‘Plants and People’ trail at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park. The trail explores the relationships between plants and people. Every day, plants play a fundamental role in our lives, and it is sometimes easy to forget their importance. Plants feed us, clothe us, clean us, protect us, cure us, transport and entertain us.
Join us to learn about the plants in the Cemetery Park that can be used for food.
You will be welcomed with a choice of ‘wild teas’ for you to try. As you gently walk, you’ll get an opportunity to learn sustainable harvesting techniques and basic plant identification techniques. Nibble on leaves, berries and roots, and collect wild leaves and flowers to take home and turn into your own wild salad.
This event will be led by Kenneth Greenway, Cemetery Park Manager. He runs numerous wild food walks at the Cemetery Park, and elsewhere.
