Spray-paint in Cranbrook: Demo & Workshops
Sun 28 May, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm BST
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until Mon 29 May, 2017
Graffiti in Cranbrook? You might be thinking we really have gone nuts. But this isn’t just any street artist, it’s award-winning spraypaint artist Sarah Gillings – aka S.o.S – who joins us as part of our ‘Cranbrook Goes Nuts in May’ street festival to give one of her unique, live painting demonstrations.
At first we wondered if Cranbrook Union Mill might fancy a colourful makeover, but then decided it would be best to let S.o.S loose on a giant hoarding 10 x 2 metres high. You’ll find her in Carriers Road behind St Dunstan’s church where she’ll be creating a piece of floral-themed artwork which will be painted live over the two day festival on May 28 & 29 from 10 to 4pm.
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Banksy, Sarah is also offering spray can workshops, through her project UCanSpray, which encourages everyone regardless of age, culture, ability and means to get involved in positive spraypainting experiences. You can pick up the cans yourself and be guided through the process of creating your own piece of spray art on either a vinyl disk, canvas, a T-shirt or you can even bring your own object along to paint.
