The Skip Garden
Tue 24 May, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm BST
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until Sat 11 June, 2016
When people think of skips they think of construction, building and dirt. We think less rubble and more rhubarb. That’s why we started using skips to farm food that, like us, is locally grown.
The Skip Garden is a moveable urban food growing garden in the middle of the King’s Cross development site. Amongst the rise of glass and steel buildings, it is an urban oasis in which herbs, chillies, apples, sweet potatoes and cabbages grow out of skips and planters made out of scaffold boards and other reclaimed materials. Our current garden has been developed in partnership with the Bartlett School of Architecture and features exciting new structures including: a rammed-earth polytunnel, a glasshouse made entirely from reclaimed sash windows, coolstore with ‘living walls’ and a vegetarian cafe with wetland dining area.
Pop in and have a wonder, have lunch, a coffee, some cake and stay a little longer. No hard hat needed!
The garden is open Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm
