What was once, is not a promise of what might be.
This is the first exhibition to be held at the new Gallery H in Brockley. In this opening show, three artists are exploring the effects of the passage of time on nature.
Benjamin Rice is exhibiting two photography projects: epic sized, exquisitely detailed prints exploring nature’s incremental repossession of dry stone walls: and equally large images studying the annual transformation of an urban Wild Cherry Tree through the seasons.
Pip Rice creates baskets from foraged plant material; transforming everyday matter into striking organic sculptures.
Alan Marsh explores, with photography, the theme of time through the observation of organic matter, alive with decomposition. There is an element of Wabi Sabi, the Japanese tradition of celebrating imperfection in the transformation of textures and changing colours.
