Ikebana is the Japanese Art of Flower Arranging. It focusses on seasonality, asymmetry and space. Each piece is designed to have strong symbolic and philosophical undertones.
For Chelsea Fringe, the Oxford Ikebana Study Group present an informal one day exhibition of Ikebana inspired by Japanese Woodblock Prints.
Members of the Study Group will be on hand to explain the principles behind their arrangements, answer questions about Ikebana and provide tea and cakes to guests.
At 2pm there will be a discussion hosted by members of the O’Hara School of Ikebana followed by a hands on demonstration at 3pm.
