FLOATING GARDEN intends to raise public awareness of the fact that underwater vegetation and wildlife in urban water bodies and rivers is becoming scarce. An archipelago of small floating islands will create a new imaginative ecosystem. Floating wetlands  will activate the lake for new wildlife: improving water quality, providing benefits including: food and shelter for fish, frogs, and invertebrates; shading which reduces water temperatures and submerged weed growth; habitat for butterflies and birds. The garden, located on the East Piazza for the duration of Chelsea Fringe Festival, will incorporate flowers, herbs and fruit trees – providing a botanical paradise of U.K. grown plants sourced from Bernhards Nurseries. ‘Geraniums at the Door’ will celebrate the iconic entrance of The Zetter Townhouse in Clerkenwell, a boutique hotel with one of the most photographed doorways in London -  festooned with over 200 geraniums in deepest burgundy to palest pink.
