As part of the restoration of the 18th century landscape at Strawberry Hill House we are installing a large area of wildflower meadow into the lawns and planting a wildflower meadow as a green roof on the visitor centre roof. A street gardening project for Vienna’s 4th district, Wieden. Until 1972, the flower wholesale market of Vienna was located in the Phorusgasse. At the end of the 1970s the market hall was demolished, and since then nothing has commemorated the “green” past of the little street. On the occasion of the Chelsea Fringe Vienna 2014, the project “Meadows in Wieden” is meant to bring the Phorusgasse back to blossoming and flowers back into the Phorusgasse.
